You should apply for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each year you intend to be a UNOH student. Visit studentaid.gov to learn more about eligibility and aid options. The University of Northwestern Ohio FAFSA school code is: 004861.
Note on tax information: You will need to have your most recent tax information to properly file. The FAFSA IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT) can be helpful in populating the most accurate tax return information and maintaining data privacy.
UNOH strongly recommends that you apply for and use Federal Direct Student Loan eligibility and/or other federal student aid (FSA) prior to a Private Education loan.
Students seeking a private loan to pay remaining costs after all other financial aid eligibility can contact a lender and complete an application and promissory note. Private education loans are based on creditworthiness of the borrower and cosigner and may not be automatically approved. The entire annual cost of education after financial aid can be covered with a private education loan. Applications are required each academic year.
At the University of Northwestern Ohio, a student can complete these requirements online through lenders presented on ELMSelect or any lender of choice if eligibility requirements are met. Loan processing will not be delayed unnecessarily if a lender not presented on ELMSelect is not chosen.
Please review the UNOH Private Education Loan Lender List Policy for more information.
Many employers also offer their own tuition assistance, and you may have access to educational benefits or a professional development fund. To explore your options, we encourage you to speak with your employer about using workplace benefits to fund your degree.
